Kosmos
Here the intellectual met the culinary, contemplation met conversation, wine was read and books were drunk.
Anna Weber, Camilla Wüthrich, Franca Schaad and Simon Krebs made Klybeckstrasse a little bit nicer with the “Kosmos” bookshop. The fact that Kosmos shared a floor of the building with “Café Frühling” struck a nerve. Until then, there had been no bookshop in the young district. Now those with a thirst for reading could go and look for new works with an espresso in hand, or make themselves comfortable for a few hours in the café with their latest literary find and a warm drink.
Bestsellers were almost nowhere to be found among the four simple but charmingly furnished walls. The books were published by small publishing houses or were favorites of the young team of four, who had turned their passion into a profession. The prices were usually between ten and twenty francs. Readings were also held in the evenings, for example on December 10 with author Urs Mannhart's “Bergsteigen im Flachland”. It quickly became clear that Kosmos was a place of encounters, all the more so in its symbiosis with Café Frühling.
