From 2010 to 2017, the exhibition space “zip” was run by Claire Zumstein and Jeannice Keller.
The name zip means: “dense” artistic works were shown in a small space. We were particularly interested in artist positions that developed painterly-installative works in relation to the space.
The idea for the space arose on the one hand from the need and necessity as an artist to have an independent exhibition space, and on the other hand to exchange ideas with other artists and interested parties across borders, to bring new people together and get to know them.
We found private projects that endeavored to communicate art in a non-institutional and non-commercial setting worthwhile.
They formed the breeding ground and space for new, surprising artistic ideas and their realization.
